ONYX
Onyx is a chalcedony quartz whose name in Greek means nail of a finger, or claw. Legend says that once, while Venus was asleep, Eros (Cupid) cut her nails and left the clippings on the ground. Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned her nails into a stone which later became known as onyx. |
